Continuing Education for Licensed Plumbers
State Licenses Expire May 1, 2009
State of Illinois Plumbing Licenses expire on May 1 of each year. Before you can renew your Illinois State License, you must earn at least four hours of continuing education. The Building & Fire Code Academy offers a variety of ways for plumbers to earn continuing education credit. Unless otherwise noted, the courses listed have been approved by the State of Illinois for licensed plumbers who wish to maintain their licenses.
Topical Courses
Each of these four-hour classes is designed to provide plumbers and plumbing inspectors with specific knowledge of the respective topic. BFCA is an authorized International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) provider. Participants of the Topical Courses will receive .4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or 4 contact hours.
Intensive Course in Illinois Plumbing Code
This 12-hour class provides plumbers and plumbing inspectors with knowledge of the Illinois Plumbing Code. The course is held over two days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. BFCA is an authorized International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) provider. Participants will receive 1.2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or 12 contact hours. Classes will be held on the following dates:

The BFCA's Plumbing Apprenticeship Program is a four-year program that prepares apprentices for the plumbing license exam. The program is approved by the State of Illinois Department of Public Health and the US Department of Labor's Bureau of Training (BAT).
