Preparing Apprentices for the Illinois Licensing Exam

"The Plumbing Apprenticeship Program" is a four-year program that prepares apprentices for the plumbing license exam. The program is approved by the State of Illinois Department of Public Health and the US Department of Labor's Bureau of Training (BAT).

Schedule

"The Plumbing Apprenticeship Program" is held in Hoffman Estates, IL. Classes are held September through December and January through April, two evenings a week from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. One class is spent on shop/blueprint instruction and the other class is classroom/code instruction.

Curriculum

The BFCA Plumbing Apprenticeship Program offers a four-year course of study that includes:

  • State of Illinois License Law;
  • State of Illinois Plumbing Law;
  • Practical Application of Codes and Standards;
  • Blueprint Reading and Drawing;
  • Theory;
  • First Aid and Safety Classes;
  • Hands-on Shop Instructions;
  • State of Illinois License Exam Preparation;
  • Industry Updates;
  • Guest Speakers from the Industry;
  • And Field Trips to Trade-Related Manufacturers, Suppliers and Municipal Facilities.

Instructors

Each instructor affiliated with the Plumbing Apprenticeship Program is an Illinois licensed plumber. The instructors bring a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience that is shared with the apprentices during classroom and shop sessions.
