Discipline Focused Training to Assist Students in Preparing for ICC Certification

New in 2008, the Building & Fire Code Academy now offers certificate programs to assist individuals who wish to receive training aimed toward preparing for a career as a code enforcement official.

Each certificate program combines discipline specific training with general code enforcement classes to prepare individuals for certification testing.

These certificate programs will expand the skills of those currently employed in the inspection field as well as help prepare individuals who are considering entering into a code enforcement career.

Benefits associated with the new certificate programs include:

  • All required code books;
  • Discipline specific workbooks;
  • Time with a qualified instructor for assistance in preparing for a certification test, including sample practice questions with answer review.

Program Prerequisites

High school diploma or GED required. Students may be required to provide proof upon request.

The Illinois Commercial Plumbing Inspector Certificate Program requires applicants to hold a

Plumber's License in good standing with the State of Illinois Department of Public Health.

Enrollment

Please contact a Building & Fire Code Academy administrative assistant to register for one of the Certificate Programs or any other class you are interested in attending.

Certificate Programs must be completed within 18 months of the first class date.
